Because many of you have been waiting with your breath held and faces turning blue for the next Nacho Blogger Award, I feel like crowning Mariana Wagner as the Sixth Ever Nacho Blogger Award Winner (SENBAW?!?!).  Why?

1. Because I said so.

2. Mariana is an excellent and comedic writer who always keeps me on my toes. 

3. She is a great teacher and is always digging deeper and deeper to educate herself while she corners the market of Web2.0 instruction!  Oh, and she summons her eagle powerss.

4. She’s naturally blonde. Bitch.

5. She clearly understands social media- Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Blogging (Local & National) and doesn’t simply CALL herself an expert (ahem- those of you reading who signed up for an account and then let it die, I’m talking to you).  She’s also been a Bubble Gum Interview victim (aka she’s a great sport)!

6. She can repair a pair of shoes with electrical tape, blame the city of Austin for her misfortune of breaking a shoe downtown at a million o’clock after stores close, then instead of buying flip flops at the gas station (we have them in all gas stations here, just like Florida) wears ElectricalTapeShoes to a professional meeting the next morning.  That’s called class, folks!

Instead of giving out lists of awards (that can be misinterpreted to NOT include all winners), I will continue doling out Nacho Blogger Awards at my leisure.  Today, I crown the fabulous Kris Berg of San Diego Home Blog.  Oh, and sorry Joe for butchering your famous photo with Kris.  I didn’t have any choice (I don’t think).  Maybe I should apologize to Kris instead…

1. Kris is deserving of being in the Top 5.  Despite her being the Princess of the RE.net, she is often overlooked for blog awards.  Kris and I agree that we both get skipped because we’re cute, petite blondes- boo.

2. Kris is spunky.  She is upbeat, friendly, great to talk to and she is always funny.  Kris also has the “I’m humble” act down pat.  All those together make her universally liked.

3. Kris is extremely intelligent and is an amazing writer.  I’m not sure if she has a background in writing, but she is captivating, entertaining and informative with every article.

4. She married Steve (it was a very romantic proposal, I hear) and made beautiful children.  She has a pooping dog- that’s award-worthy, right?  This matters because she is part of a subculture called a Mommy Blogger- she juggles a successful career, many blogging duties (I had to say duty as a Nacho Libre reference), and teens.  Talk about tired!!!

So, Kris- congratulations (your badge will be in your Inbox shortly).  Anyone who’s read my blog for more than a week knows you’re a good friend to me and I like you a whole whole lot.  Instead of signing off by saying “Sincerely,” I will let Nacho do the closing salutation for me:

Instead of giving out lists of awards (that can be misinterpreted to NOT include all winners), I will continue doling out Nacho Blogger Awards at my leisure.  Most of you knew this was coming, but today I dub April Groves a member of the uber elite, much desired (you know you want one) Nacho Blogger Award Circle for these reasons:

1. I adore April.  We’ve both made you all jealous by declaring that we’re BBFs (Best Blog Friends) and she’s even suckered me into being a co-author on one of her blogs.

2. Oh, she effectively manages more than one blog and has done an amazing job of running them in a parallel manner but has large and mostly separate (smart cookie) for each venue that allows her to properly channel her blogging efforts.  Her personal, positive theses and time management articles are shared on Beautiful Chaos while her Real Estate blog that focuses on the practice, customer service and even technology is called Making Life Work For You and is becoming increasingly popular.

3. When my brother passed away, a simple phone call to April allowed me to take time off yet feel confident that the blog was still running and the blogiverse was aware of the situation.  I never knew that one call to my BBF would make it possible for my family to make it through these tough times!  She’s ultra reliable, trustworthy and sincere.

4. April is not only a great Realtor who is extremely tech savvy, she is the queen of networking, is a great mommy, has a cute new haircut, and I bet she can do at least 10 times more push ups than I can.  She is always selfless and there aren’t many people out there that compare to her.

5. April and I share a favorite one-word sentence (April, you know what it is!) and email each other off line all the time.  If you don’t have a friendship or relationship with her, you really should beg her with chocolates or southern food- she’s even on Facebook, y’all!  Let’s all go ahead and forgive her for not being a longhorn…

Today I will share with you my real favorite blogger (Jay knows he’s second fiddle)- Benn at Realtor Genius (and Single Pointe Realty).  Here are five reasons that I am awarding B.R. the Second Ever Nacho Blogger Award:

1. He laughs at my jokes that probably aren’t funny, he lets me sleep in late sometimes, he humors my “look at what the kitty’s doing” every several minutes and he takes the trash out because a lady should never have to.  Oh, and he said “I do” when Father Ron asked if he’d marry me- haha, sucka!

2. He’s not scared to tackle the heavy issues for the greater good that most people are scared to mention in public in fear of Big Brother.

3. He’s my tech support genius and is actually responsible for my Word Press conversion- I no speakie php.

4. He’s won other awards (The Black Pearl & the Carnival of Real Estate), so he needs this badge to outshine his others in the trophy case!

5. He actually encourages local bloggers from other firms to blog even if it means sharing the little slice of Internet pie with them.  He always puts his clients first and never lets clients get snowed over in a deal.  He is an amazing father which is probably why both of our kids (who are old enough to have cell phones) want to be a Realtor like daddy.  He is a leader in our church and a great support in our family- he leads the rosary when we take car trips, he pets the orange kitty that he originally told me I shouldn’t get, he hugs me for the umpteenth time this minute, and he always has his priorities in line since he answers to the Man Upstairs, not to Vrodegrood-Combers… or however you say it.

Congratulations honey- I know you said you didn’t want it because you shouldn’t be eligible, I don’t care- you’re a winner!  You’d win even if you didn’t buy me flowers! :)    Since you won even though you asked me not to give you this award, I’ll let you pick the next winner (just whisper in my ear when you come in here for your pen that I stole (Derek, I don’t want to hear about the sad societal plight of two laptop users within yelling distance speaking via blog- it’s humor, dude))…

Hooray, another stupid award!!!  There are so many awards out there that are earned through writing a single great article but this award is not for any specific article, rather about individual bloggers.  My favorite movie ever is Nacho Libre, and my favorite bloggers will be awarded, thus the  ”Nacho Blogger Award” is born and winners will receive a sexy button if they choose to be cool enough to place it on their blog!

Here are 5 reasons why Jay Thompson wins the First Ever Nacho Blogger Award, and you should BEG him to be YOUR friend:

1. Jay Thompson was the first commenter (besides my husband) on my blog and wrote an article about my blog the same week it launched.  You should look back and see who commented first on YOUR blog- did they sniff out success as well as Jay did? (ha ha)

2. Jay always puts ethics above everything.  He selflessly promotes social causes, condemns parents leaving babies in cars, had an image of a local predator on his front page in efforts of catching him and warns parents about the dangers of children drowning among other things.  Jay uses his blog for the greater good and it is why he is so well loved and trusted with his clients and peers.  He knows the bottom line is dinero, but he obviously answers to something higher.

3. He is an award winning blogger- Odysseus, Posh’d, Bawldy, Thinking Blogger and more.  Plus, he’s one of the few Realtors using a 3-column WP theme- he’s a smart cookie!  He’s also an early adopter of blog technology, widgets etc. so if you see it on his blog, chances are you should have it on yours (or he’ll continue to take more of your market share!).

4. Jay answers emails more quickly than anyone (except Greg Swann).  Correspondence is critical in Real Estate and he clearly has a grasp on that concept.

5. JT keeps things fresh yet remembers to give story updates which is SO rare in the RE.net; people often introduce new series of articles (myself included) and let them flop.  Jay’s a smart guy.  Plus he and I went to THE University of Texas and he wears UT shirts in my honor (well in Bevo’s, but I like myself a lot so I’ll pretend it’s for me).
